Falooda

Falooda is an iconic Indian dessert. In the hotter months, everyone wants a refreshing cold beverage. This delicious falooda recipe is made with vermicelli, rose syrup, basil seeds, and ice cream.

Ingredients
  

  • 300 ml Milk
  • 50 g Vermicelli Falooda Seviyan
  • 1 tsp Basil Seeds Sabja Seeds, Tukmaria
  • 4 tsp Rose Syrup
  • 1 Scoop Ice Cream Vanilla

Instructions

  • Add water into a saucepan and bring to a gentle boil before adding the vermicelli – there are different types of vermicelli so ensure that the ones you use are suitable for falooda
  • Allow the vermicelli to gently simmer for 3 minutes then drain and rinse with cold water before setting aside
  • In a small add the basil seeds to cold water and set aside for at least 10 minutes
  • In another small bowl add the rose syrup to the cold milk and mix until the rose syrup has completely dissolved
  • Fill a tablespoon with rose syrup then hold the tablespoon at an angle against the edge of the glass and allow the syrup to drip slowly as you turn the glass – this step is optional and for decorative purposes
  • Add the basil seed mixture into the glass followed by the vermicelli – depending on your personal preference you can alter the amounts of basil seeds and vermicelli for each glass.
  • Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and then pour the rose syrup mixture until the glass is filled before repeat with the remaining ingredients
  • Complete with a drizzle of rose syrup and enjoy on a hot summer day!
