Ingredients

  • 500 g Potatoes
  • 100 g Breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Paprika
  • 2 tbsp Plain Flour
  • 1 Egg Beaten
  • Oil For frying

Instructions

  • Peel and wash the potatoes. Cut them into small pieces and boil in a pot of water for about 15 minutes or until they are soft.
  • Drain the potatoes and transfer them to a mixing bowl. Mash them with a potato masher or fork until they are smooth.
  • Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika powder, and all-purpose flour to the mashed potatoes. Mix well until everything is evenly combined.
  • Scoop the potato mixture with a tablespoon and shape them into balls. You should be able to make around 12-15 balls.
  • Dip each ball into the beaten egg, then coat them in breadcrumbs.
  • Heat up the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the potato balls in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the potato balls from the pan and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
  • Serve hot with your favourite dip or sauce.

Notes

  • You can add different herbs or spices to the potato mixture depending on your taste preference.
  • To make the potato balls ahead of time, you can shape them and keep them in the fridge until you're ready to fry them.
  • These potato balls are best served hot and crispy, so make sure to serve them immediately after frying.
